Casa Quivira Agency and Orphanage

Although we didn't use this orphanage it's an orphanage in Antigua Guatemala that was heavily raided this past August. All charges have been dropped and all the children have been returned to the orphanages care, the orphanage has not gotten back their beds, cribs, diapers, formula, ect. The families of Casa have compiled a CD of 200 photos of Guatemala to use for fundraising. 100% of proceeds are going to Casa to help supply them again with daily essentials needed to care for the children and babies.

Here is the post:
Hello All,I'm happy to announce that the photo CD, "Guatemala in Pictures" is finally ready! This CD will be sold to raise funds for the Casa Quivira Foundation. 100% of the profits will go to CQ. I'm suggesting a donation amount of $20.00 with the check made payable to The Casa Quivira Foundation. Order forms (you'll find one in the"files" section of the CQWaiters site) and checks should be sent to me. I will send out the CDs and forward the checks to the CQF treasurer, Lisa Mantia. The CD contains over 200 beautiful, high-resolution digital photos of Guatemala including pictures featuring Antigua, Tikal & El Peten, Flores, Lake Atitlan,Guatemala City and more. There are photos of Guatemala's indigenous people, colonial architecture, landscapes, daily life, plants, animals, etc. It is a stunning and diverse collection of photographs. Email me if you would like to see a list of the photos. You can use the photos to make prints for creating photo albums, use in scrapbooks and lifebooks, get enlargements to frame, create a fabulous photobook, or just view them as a slide show on your computer. The photos may not be used for any commercial purpose, however.A big thank you to the Porters, the Lockharts, Dana Scott, Alicia Santamaria,Karen Peck and Dennis Kaiblinger for contributing pictures. Please help spread the word about this fundraiser! If you belong to an adoption forum, adoption support group, adoption list serve, or any other group that you think would be interested - let others know about the photo CD. If you have a blog or website, feel free to advertise this fundraiser there as well. Anyone interested can contact me at mayesfamily@... to get an order form or for more info. Thanks!

Good day

audio Explanation of the English only Quran (for the first time on the internet)

"What is Islam's presence in the United States?"

It is almost impossible to generalize about American Muslims: converts, immigrants, factory workers, doctors; all are making their own contribution to America's future. This complex community is unified by a common faith, under-pinned by a countrywide network of a thousand mosques.

Muslims were early arrivals in North America. By the eighteenth century there were many thousands of them, working as slaves on plantations. These early communities, cut off from their heritage and families, inevitably lost their Islamic identity as time went by. Today many Afro-American Muslims play an important role in the Islamic community.

The nineteenth century, however, saw the beginnings of an influx of Arab Muslims, most of whom settled in the major industrial centers where they worshiped in hired rooms. The early twentieth century witnessed the arrival of several hundred thousand Muslims from Eastern Europe: the first Albanian mosque was opened in Maine in 1915; others soon followed, and a group of Polish Muslims opened a mosque in Brooklyn in 1928.

In 1947 the Washington Islamic Center was founded during the term of President Truman, and several nationwide organizations were set up in the fifties. The same period saw the establishment of other communities whose lives were in many ways modeled after Islam. More recently, numerous members of these groups have entered the fold of Muslim orthodoxy. Today there are about five million Muslims in America.

Question 27 "How does Islam guarantee human rights ?"

Freedom of conscience is laid down by the Quran itself: 'There is no compulsion in religion'. (2.256)

The life and property of all citizens in an Islamic state are considered sacred whether a person is Muslim or not.

Racism is incomprehensible to Muslims, for the Quran speaks of human equality in the following terms:

'O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honored of you in God 's sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware'. (49.13)
